Welcome to Honest Copywriting

‘Sell’ is a four-letter word. A door-to-door salesman or telephone solicitor is a curse and a used car salesman is a joke, right?

Right, except my used car dealer actually has like-new cars at affordable prices. Because of him, I’ve had the thrill of jumping in a shiny new spotless car and enjoying hassle-free driving.

So selling and the people who do it are not inherently bad. But, the people in the world who want to take your money, regardless of whether you’ll get something useful, they are…. let’s just say that isn’t who I want to be. I don’t want my escape from the rat race to be at someone else’s expense.

It took me a long time to realize selling isn’t just about earning a buck. Every day, we have to sell ideas to people, to persuade them to take action. How would your life be different if people listened to you more?

So what is copywriting?

Copywriting is writing words that sell. Writing words that people remember. Words that inspire confidence that what you are recommending (whether it involves a purchase or not) can improve a person’s life, no matter how small an improvement.

And Honest Copywriting?

Honest copywriting is selling without lies or deceit. It’s that simple. When I actually believe in something, I want to be able to convince other people of its value. I refuse to pressure or trick someone into buying.

So I’m starting a website and a blog as I head down this new path to, well, keep me honest!
